Caroline Gilbert - Head of Business Development and Support

Caroline joined the CU Trust in April 2012 with a clear remit to generate new sources of income to underwrite the expansion of the Children's University. A graduate of The University of Manchester and Aberdeen Business School, she started  her career in the private sector but has spent the last decade working with charities; raising funds, managing projects and generating earned income via trading activity.

Prior to taking up her role with the Children's University, Caroline worked for Wood Family Trust as its UK Investment Manager; overseeing its domestic grants portfolio. She was also previously employed by Aberdeen Foyer, a charity committed to eradicating youth homelessness/unemployment in the North East of Scotland, and there she was responsible for handling all fundraising activities and managing two fledgling social enterprises.

Most recently, Caroline completed a three-month Winston Churchill Fellowship in North America visiting large-scale social enterprises which provide a range of employment and education opportunities: her research focussed on initiatives which help disengaged young people to re-enter mainstream education and gain access to skilled training and professional careers.
